What exactly IS "Wellness"?

"Wellness" is something we hear all the time and you might be wondering what exactly it is and HOW DO I ACHIEVE IT? 

It is a pretty general term because there's several elements balancing together in order to shape wellness; and, the balance of these elements looks slightly different for each of us. 

In our Six-week Wellness Challenge, we are focusing on physical wellness to promote proper care of our bodies for optimal health, function, and longevity. In general, physical wellness encompasses a balance of physical activity, nutrition and mental well-being. Throughout the Six-week Challenge you will become more aware of the elements of wellness that are most meaningful to you. As you also become more conscious of your own health, you'll continually grow into your “best self” by identifying elements you are satisfied with and others that you'd like to improve on.

Why is Wellness Important?

Intrinsically, wellness is about quality of life. Physical activity and quality nutrition are two cornerstones of wellness that will influence your body and mind, your emotional wellness, self-esteem, and self-control. 

How is your Six-Week Wellness Challenge different from other "Challenges" and "Detoxes"?

First, there isn't any evidence that detox or cleansing programs actually remove "toxins" from your body or improve your health. Weight loss may be achieved on a detox or cleanse because they are typically very low in calories. The weight loss will likely be very temporary because this type of lifestyle is not sustainable. Detoxes and cleanses are meant to be short-term, they can be costly, and they do not promote long-term health and well-being. 

Our approach is to provide you the education, tools, and support for you to make lasting changes. These changes will impact not just your physical and mental health, but also your emotional and social wellness. All the advice and education we provide is based on science and evidence-based research. We are also here to support you day in and day out with Q&A, group support, motivation, encouragement..and accountability!
